Music Ministry

We believe that the highest call of a Christian is to worship God. Our music ministry is one of the ways we respond to His love for us. Since the beginning of the movement back in the 1970’s, Vineyard churches have been characterized by their use of contemporary music styles and for the intimacy of their lyrics. Music is a gift from God that touches people’s hearts. It is one of the ways our church likes to use the Arts to express the Christian experience.

Our mid-week small groups often include someone on acoustic guitar leading the group in a music ministry that express our love for the Lord. In our Sunday worship services our church’s worship team leans towards guitar-driven rock or folk/rock in style, as we seek to be relevant to the current culture of our community. The worship team often includes electric and acoustic guitars, bass, drums and vocalists. Other instruments will also be used as appropriate for the music.

The role of the worship team is to help prepare people for entering in God’s presence. We usually stand during our times of music ministry. You may see people raise their hands or clap, or at other times bow or sit in silence. We sing songs that speak of the great love we have for Jesus, and for how thankful and joyful we are for His healing touch in our lives. We also have songs that are more introspective as we consider our own brokenness and the brokenness of others who desperately need to know of the love of the Lord. We respond in humility and sometimes in sorrow recognizing how much we need God’s mercy and grace and strengthening. At times we may experience great joy. Other times we may be moved to tears. The Holy Spirit often speaks to our hearts through music and we respond to His presence. As you worship with us, feel free to join in, or just sit back and let God minister to you.

In our music ministry, whether leading worship as musicians or worshipping in the congregation, it is our goal to stay focused on the reality that we are sinners who can only enjoy God’s presence because of what Jesus did for us on the cross. Music is a powerful and universal tool for communicating our heart to the Lord and His heart towards us.
