 | Senior Pastor: Bob Morris Feeling that this was where God was calling them to be, Bob, Debbie and their two children, Kristen and Rob, moved to Wellsboro in 1986. Bob had been recruited as the CEO of Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital. In 1989, he helped engineer the creation of the Laurel Health System and served as its first CEO. In 1994, he was the victim of a near fatal motorcycle accident. Because of complications from his injuries, Bob resigned from his position at LHS in 1996. On Sept 9, 2001, a small group began to meet at the Morris’s home to worship and pray for God’s direction. To their surprise, within 6 months the group had doubled in size. Within a year they began to seriously wonder if God would have them start a new ministry in Wellsboro. In July 2002, after numerous meetings and encouragement from Vineyard Church leaders, and after much prayer and fasting, Bob and Debbie felt called to “plant” a Vineyard church in the Wellsboro area. This began a two-year educational process for Bob through the Vineyard Leadership Institute. In June of 2004, following completion of his training, Bob was approved to be a Pastor through the Association of Vineyard Churches, and their home church was released to be a Vineyard Church. The church was legally incorporated in November of 2004 as the Vineyard Church of Wellsboro. Bob grew up in Vestal, N.Y. He has a B.A. in Business from SUNY at Binghamton, and an M.B.A. with a certification in Health Administration from Cornell University. He serves on the Board of the Wellsboro Teen Center, and enjoys playing guitar and bass on the church worship team. He confesses to being a N.Y. Knicks and N.Y. Yankees fan. | Director of Community Outreach and Small Group Ministries: Lew Brill I was born and raised in Wellsboro, PA, attended college and recieved a B.S. in Biblical Studies and a B.S. in Education from Philadelphia Biblical University in 1997. My wife and I then moved to the San Francisco Bay area of California, where we both taught in a large private school for 4 years. In 2002, after having our first child, Ella, we decided to move back to PA, where we have since settled. Soon afterward, our son, Jackson, arrived. I currently teach math at Wellsboro Area High School, and this past summer recieved an M.S. in Education from Mansfield University. We discovered the Vineyard Church of Wellsboro in the fall of 2003, when it was very new, and quickly fell in love with the casual worship atmosphere and relationships that were made. There is a high priority placed on connecting with others that has drawn us into the ministry here. We have been involved in various roles in the past few years at VCW, and recently have come on staff. My first experience in a small group was about 3 years ago. My wife and I were asked to host a group at our home. We quickly developed close relationships with the others in that group and came to realize that in order for church to be relevant today, it needs to be more than an event that happens on Sundays. Our group discovered needs in the community and worked together to try to minister to some of those needs while at the same time growing together in our own journeys of faith. That process made church more relevant to me than it has ever been. My passion for this ministry is to provide an opportunity for those in our community to be able to connect in this way, to experience the power of the gospel in their own lives, and to then reach out to others around them in the same way. I am excited about how God is using regular people to do extraordinary things around the world, and how he is making a difference on our own community in Wellsboro, PA. |
